The Indonesian National Police have arrested a most-wanted fugitive from China, Zheng Rongjing, at Soekarno-Hatta Airport. Zheng is wanted in connection with an international online scam case. He was detained upon landing at Soekarno-Hatta on Wednesday (24/6/2026) at 23.50 Western Indonesian Time. The arrest was carried out after the police received a request from NCB Beijing in March to apprehend Zheng should he enter Indonesia. “The individual is a fairly major player in online scamming activities,” said Brigadier General Untung Widyatmoko, Secretary of NCB Interpol Indonesia at the Police International Relations Division, during a press conference at the Criminal Investigation Agency building on Friday (26/6). According to Interpol records, Untung stated that Zheng is a key figure in an online scamming network. Zheng is alleged to have operated a scamming syndicate in one of the largest fraud compounds in Cambodia. “The subject is known to be one of the fugitives on Interpol Beijing’s most wanted list, with activities involving running scam operations in one of the largest compounds in Cambodia,” he said. When asked why Zheng entered Indonesia, Untung remarked, “Of course, if a major online scam player comes to Indonesia, there must already be someone ready to accommodate him here, the infrastructure must already be in place.” Zheng is currently undergoing further examination at the Metro Jaya Regional Police. The police will investigate Zheng’s purpose for coming to Indonesia. “Before we hand him over to NCB Interpol Beijing, we will of course conduct an in-depth investigation first and take a statement from the individual regarding his intentions and purpose for coming to Indonesia,” he stated.
