China's men lead in chess Olympiad

YEREVAN (DPA): China defeated Cuba 2.5-1.5 to retain its lead
at the top of the men's team tournament at the chess Olympiad in
Yerevan, Armenia, moving on to 13 points.

Favorites Russia is half a point behind on 12.5 after a 3-1
victory over Germany on Thursday evening.

Among other matches Armenia was comfortable 4-0 winners over
Indonesia, England beat Rumania 2.5-1.5, the Netherlands defeated
Estonia 2.5-1.5, Israel and Uzbekhistan ended 2-2, and Hungary
edged Portugal 2.5-1.5.
