Official data released on Monday shows that China’s value-added industrial output increased by 5.6 per cent year-on-year in the first four months of 2026. The National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) of China released data indicating that in April 2026, the country’s industrial output grew by 4.1 per cent (yoy) and rose by 0.05 per cent compared to the previous month. Industrial output is used to measure the activity of large-scale enterprises, each of which records an annual main business turnover of at least 20 million yuan (1 yuan = Rp2,576) or approximately 2.92 million US dollars (1 US dollar = Rp17,496). Breaking down the data by sector, the value-added output of the mining sector increased by 5.5 per cent (yoy) in the first four months of this year, while the manufacturing sector recorded growth of 5.8 per cent. NBS data also noted that the value-added output of the production and supply of electricity, heating, gas, and water rose by 4.5 per cent.
