Beijing (ANTARA) - China’s fixed asset investment fell by 7.2 per cent year-on-year in the first eight months of 2026, according to official data released on Tuesday.

Total investment reached approximately 29.3 trillion yuan (around 4.33 trillion US dollars) during this period, the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) stated.

Excluding the property sector, the country’s fixed asset investment declined by 4.2 per cent in the first eight months of this year.

Notably, investment in intellectual property products increased by 9.2 per cent year-on-year.

Investment in high-tech industries rose by 5.2 per cent year-on-year. Specifically, investment in information services, aerospace manufacturing, and electronic equipment and communications manufacturing increased by 22.7 per cent, 14.9 per cent, and 6.9 per cent respectively during the first eight months of 2026.

By industry, investment in the primary industry fell by 2.4 per cent, the secondary industry fell by 2.9 per cent, and the tertiary industry fell by 9.9 per cent year-on-year.

By sector, investment in infrastructure declined by 4 per cent, manufacturing investment fell by 2.3 per cent, and real estate development investment dropped by 19.9 per cent year-on-year.
