Beijing (ANTARA) - China’s electric vehicle (EV) charging infrastructure continues to develop rapidly, with the total number of charging points reaching 21.01 million by the end of February 2026, an increase of 47.8 per cent compared to the previous year, according to the National Energy Administration.

Of this total, public charging facilities number 4.834 million, up 28.8 per cent from the previous year.

Private charging facilities reached a total of 16.176 million units by the end of last month, surging 54.6 per cent year-on-year (yoy), reflecting strong growth in charging demand in the residential sector.

Data from China’s national charging infrastructure monitoring and service platform highlights the ongoing expansion of the EV support network in China amid a surge in EV sales.

In 2025, China’s EV sector experienced accelerated growth, with production and sales reaching 16.626 million and 16.49 million units respectively, growing 29 per cent and 28.2 per cent (yoy), according to data from the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers (CAAM).

In October 2025, China launched a three-year action plan to enhance EV charging infrastructure in the country, targeting the construction of a national network covering 28 million charging facilities, as well as public charging capacity exceeding 300 million kilowatts by the end of 2027.
