China's domestically-developed quantum computer system now available for download
Beijing (ANTARA) - China’s domestically-developed quantum computer operating system, Origin Pilot, is now officially available for download, according to Science and Technology Daily on Thursday.
This marks a step expected to significantly lower development barriers and accelerate the development of China’s independent quantum computing ecosystem.
Origin Pilot, independently developed by Origin Quantum Computing Technology Co., Ltd. based in Hefei, was first introduced in 2021. After undergoing several iterations and updates, the operating system has evolved into a sophisticated platform supporting various major technological pathways, including superconducting quantum processors, ion traps, and neutral atoms. Currently, the operating system has been implemented and operated on the Origin Wukong series of quantum computers, the newspaper reported.
Quantum computer operating systems are responsible for core functions, such as resource scheduling and collaborative management between software and hardware. The system also possesses crucial capabilities, such as parallel processing of quantum tasks and automatic qubit calibration, significantly improving overall operational efficiency on quantum computers.
By opening up unified programming interfaces and a standardized driving system, Origin Pilot breaks down technical barriers in core quantum computing software. This allows research institutions, universities, and developers around the world to easily access the Chinese-developed quantum computer operating system.
“After completing the download on the official website of Origin Quantum, users can efficiently connect to various physical quantum chips and perform quantum programming based on independent frameworks such as QPanda,” said Dou Menghan, leader of the Origin Pilot development team, as quoted in the newspaper.
