Beijing (ANTARA) - China’s computing power network is expected to receive new direct investment of 4 trillion yuan (1 yuan = Rp2,675), equivalent to 589.2 billion US dollars (1 US dollar = Rp18,078), during the 15th Five-Year Plan period (2026-2030).

As the development of computing power relies primarily on corporate investment, this progress will create significant opportunities for private investment, stated Jiang Yi, spokesperson for China’s National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC), during a press conference on Friday.

China is considering massive investment in the ‘Six Networks’ initiative as part of its efforts to expand domestic demand and stabilise economic growth. These six networks include water networks, new-type power grids, computing power networks, next-generation communication networks, urban underground pipeline networks, and logistics networks.

Jiang noted that these six networks are not separate, independently operating systems, but rather an integrated whole characterised by deep interconnection, mutual empowerment, and coordinated support.

During the 15th Five-Year Plan period, approximately 5 trillion yuan is expected to be invested in underground pipeline networks to accelerate efforts to address weaknesses in gas, water supply, drainage, and heating infrastructure, while simultaneously enhancing urban infrastructure resilience and improving public quality of life, according to Jiang.

In the first half of this year, water network development successfully attracted private capital of over 10.8 billion yuan, an 85.8 per cent increase year-on-year.

More projects with stable operational returns will be launched to encourage the participation of private enterprises, Jiang added. The development of the six networks is being accelerated, with various policy dividends being continuously introduced.
