China's Automotive Production and Sales Surge Sharply in March 2026
Beijing (ANTARA) - Industry data released on Friday (10/4) shows that car production and sales in China recorded a sharp increase in March 2026 compared to the previous month. China’s automotive production reached 2.92 million units in March. Meanwhile, sales were recorded at 2.9 million units, surging 74.4 percent and 60.6 percent respectively from the previous month, according to the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers (CAAM). China’s new energy vehicle (NEV) production and sales reached 1.23 million units and 1.25 million units, respectively. In the first quarter (Q1) of 2026, China’s automotive output reached 7.04 million units and sales reached 7.05 million units. During the same period, China’s NEV production and sales reached 2.97 million units and 2.96 million units, respectively. Moving into the second quarter (Q2), the impact of policies such as large-scale equipment renewal and consumer goods trade-in programmes will continue to be felt. CAAM Deputy Secretary-General Chen Shihua said that at the same time, the Beijing auto show will be enlivened by a wave of new model launches, which will help maintain market momentum while promoting vehicle consumption.
