China wins dragonboat race
KUALA LUMPUR (AP): China won the men's Penang International Dragonboat race on Sunday in northern Malaysia.
The Chinese team took home the Governor's Trophy after finishing the one-kilometer (0.6 mile) race in 3:05.09s, nearly five seconds ahead of the second-place-getters.
Jambi of Indonesia was second in 3:10.4s, followed by the Hong Kong Island Paddle Club at 3:13.00s.
China bagged another first-place trophy in the Penang Challenge Cup, crossing the finish line in 3:11.06s. Jambi took second 3:15.08s and Hong Kong Island Paddle Club finished third in 3:18.5s.
In the women's race, Hong Kong Island Paddle Club (3:59.04s) won, edging out the Singapore Dragon Boat Association (4:04.01s) and Penang (4:09.02s).
