China Urges US to Immediately Halt Blockade and Sanctions Against Cuba

Beijing (ANTARA) - China has urged the United States (US) to immediately halt the blockade and sanctions, as well as all forms of coercion and pressure against Cuba, said the spokesperson of China’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Tuesday (5/5). The statement was made by the spokesperson in response to the US’s move to increase sanctions against Cuba. Cuba has described the US’s coercive, illegal, and unilateral actions as reprehensible and unreasonable. The spokesperson stated that the escalation of illegal and unilateral sanctions by the US against Cuba severely violates the Cuban people’s rights to livelihood and development, and contravenes basic norms in international relations. China firmly supports Cuba in safeguarding its sovereignty and national security, and opposes interference in Cuba’s internal affairs, the spokesperson added.
