China Urges United States to Halt Attacks on Iran
The brutal and deadly attacks on Iran by Israel and the United States on Saturday 28 February shocked the international community.
The Chinese government expressed deep concern over the military attack on Iran conducted by the United States and Israel. Through its spokesperson, China’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs called for an immediate end to the military action.
The statement was issued in response to attacks reported to have occurred on Saturday 28 February.
China emphasised that the attacks raise serious concerns and stressed the importance of respecting Iran’s sovereignty, security, and territorial integrity.
In addition to calling for an immediate cessation of military operations, the Chinese government also urged all parties to prevent further escalation of the Middle East conflict.
Beijing also encouraged the continuation of dialogue and negotiation as a strategic approach to maintaining peace and stability in the region.
United States President Donald Trump stated that military operations against Iran could last up to four weeks and warned of possible additional casualties.
Israeli military mobilised 100,000 reserve troops in Operation “Roaring Lion” against Iran. Attacks in Gaza resulted in civilian deaths and dozens injured.
German Chancellor Friedrich Merz stated agreement with the United States on Iran’s nuclear programme but warned of the risk of escalation of Middle East conflict.
Iranian forces shot down 10 advanced drones, bringing the total to 22.
Trump agreed to speak with Iran’s new leader. Tehran expressed openness to serious efforts to reduce tensions, according to Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi.
Former Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad was reported killed in an attack on Tehran. Iranian media has not yet provided official confirmation of this report.
