China Unveils Giant Iron Man Robot, Here's a Look at the Human-Operated Machine

China’s Unitree has once again captured attention with the launch of its Iron Man-like robot suit. The Hulk-sized robot is named GD01. The launch of GD01 marks a major step in the development of humanoid robots and autonomous vehicles, while also realising the concept of mecha that has only existed in manga. (Screenshot from Youtube/Unitree Robotics) With a weight of up to 500 kilograms, it is designed to be controlled by a human from within, allowing them to operate it as a much larger body. Although it is not as tall as the robots from the Neon Genesis Evangelion series. The GD01 design features a sleek frame with longer arms and legs. (Screenshot from Youtube/Unitree Robotics) In a video released by Unitree on YouTube, the GD01 is shown walking stably, hitting and knocking down a brick wall with its fist. The robot can also move in a low position, such as crawling with flexible movements. (Screenshot from Youtube/Unitree Robotics) Unlike previous mecha, which were often static robots or quadrupeds, the GD01 comes with a shape and function that is closer to the concept of a true mecha as seen in science fiction. Previously, the company has showcased various capabilities of its robots, from acrobatics and playing basketball to assisting with heavy physical labour. However, this advanced technology comes with a hefty price tag. Unitree has set an initial price of US$650,000 for the GD01, or more than Rp 10 billion.
