Beijing (ANTARA) - Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Lin Jian stated on Wednesday (17/6) that his country will soon provide new humanitarian aid to Iran and Lebanon to further assist in the recovery, reconstruction, and economic development of those nations. Lin made the statement during a regular press briefing in response to questions regarding the conflict between the United States, Israel, and Iran, and its spillover effects, which have caused numerous civilian casualties, widespread infrastructure damage, and severe pressure on livelihoods in the Middle East. Lin said China is deeply saddened by the humanitarian disaster in the Middle East triggered by the conflict and its spillover effects, adding that China had already provided emergency humanitarian assistance to Iran and other countries in March 2026. “As a good friend of Middle Eastern countries and a responsible major power, China will continue to provide support and assistance within its capacity. China will also make further efforts for peace talks and continue to play a positive role in restoring peace and tranquillity in the Middle East as soon as possible,” Lin said.
