China to donate rice seeds

MATARAM, West Nusa Tenggara: China will donate paddy seedlings to West Nusa Tenggara province to help improve the province's rice production, the head of the provincial agriculture office, Muzani Mirza, said on Monday.

"We hope the seedlings will help increase the province's rice production," he said.

The seedlings would, however, be quarantined first to check for diseases, he added.

He said the Chinese government had pledged the seedlings during Governor Harun Al Rasyid's visit to China last year. --Antara
