China supports permanent ceasefire between US and Iran

Beijing (ANTARA) - China supports the relevant parties in continuing political and diplomatic efforts to resolve the dispute with the aim of realising a full and permanent ceasefire between the United States and Iran. Foreign Ministry spokesperson Guo Jiakun, on Wednesday, stated that his country also emphasises the importance of maintaining peace and stability in the Middle East and the Gulf region. Guo made the statement during a regular press conference after US President Donald Trump announced the extension of the ceasefire, scheduled to end on Wednesday evening local time, with several conditions. “The current situation is at a critical stage as to whether this conflict can end or not. The primary priority is to prevent, by all means, the resumption of fighting,” said Guo. He added that China is prepared to act in the spirit of the four-point proposal and work with the international community to play an active and constructive role in achieving that goal.
