Beijing (ANTARA) - The Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) has released its development plan for the 15th Five-Year Plan period (2026-2030), according to Xinhua reports on Monday (28/9).

The plan establishes priority directions for breakthroughs in science and technology across three key areas: basic research, strategic high technology, and sustainable development.

Furthermore, the plan sets strategic priorities to guide the academy’s science and technology work in the coming years and commits to enhancing scientific research supported by artificial intelligence (AI).

The plan also calls for the strengthening of basic science and technology capabilities and better coordination regarding the distribution of scientific research across various regions.

Aimed at building world-class research institutions, the plan outlines tasks for reform and development in several fields. These include the integrated development of education, science, technology, and talent; the development of a national science and technology think tank; the reform and innovation of research organisation management; the transfer and application of scientific and technological achievements; and international science and technology exchange and cooperation.
