China seeks to work with BRICS to promote conflict resolution

Beijing (ANTARA) - China wishes to cooperate with other BRICS nations to promote a political resolution to the ongoing conflicts in Ukraine and the Middle East, stated Chinese Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Mao Ning.

“China promotes a concept of security that is comprehensive, cooperation-based, and sustainable. We are committed to pushing for political solutions to these crises through dialogue,” Mao said during a press conference in Beijing on Friday.

Mao made these remarks ahead of the BRICS summit scheduled to take place in India this weekend, amidst the persistent conflicts in Ukraine and the Middle East.

China hopes to encourage all parties to resolve disputes through dialogue and negotiation, while working alongside other BRICS member states, Mao added.

BRICS is an intergovernmental group formed in 2006 by Russia, China, India, and Brazil. South Africa joined BRICS in 2011.

Several other countries have also joined the group since 2024. India holds the rotating BRICS chairmanship this year.
