China Secures Junior Category Title at Asian Fencing Championships in Jakarta
Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Chinese contingent secured the junior category title after winning three gold medals at the 2026 Asian Cadet and Junior Fencing Championships at the Jakarta Convention Center (JCC), Senayan, on Thursday.
China added three golds from the men’s foil team, women’s sabre, and women’s épée events, bringing their total to six gold medals in the junior category.
The Chinese team faced tough competition from Japan in the final of the men’s foil team event, which ended with a narrow score of 44-43.
China added another gold in the women’s sabre team event after defeating Uzbekistan 45-34 in the final. The third gold for China came from the women’s épée team event after a convincing 39-33 victory over Singapore.
With the addition of these three golds, the Chinese team is now uncatchable, with only three golds left to be contested on the final day of the championship, Friday (27/2).
The three closest competitors to China, namely Japan, Hong Kong, and Singapore, have each won one gold medal, so even if one of them sweeps all three golds on the final day, their total will be four, still below China’s total.
The final day of competition will see the awarding of golds in the men’s épée team, men’s sabre team, and women’s foil team events.
