China ready to cooperate with the United States to seek solutions on rare earth supply
Beijing (ANTARA) — The Chinese government says it is prepared to cooperate with the United States to seek solutions to shared concerns about the supply of rare earth elements and related technologies.
The Chinese Ministry of Commerce, in a statement on Wednesday, said the two countries would jointly study steps to address each side’s legitimate interests.
“Both sides will jointly study ways to address the legitimate and legal interests of both parties,” the ministry said.
The Ministry of Commerce stressed that Chinese authorities apply export controls on rare earth elements in accordance with applicable laws and regulations.
“China is ready to cooperate with the United States to create conditions conducive to mutually beneficial cooperation between enterprises of the two countries and to ensure the security and stability of the global production and supply chain,” the statement said.
Earlier, the White House announced after US President Donald Trump’s visit to China that Beijing had agreed to consider Washington’s concerns about rare earth shortages.
The statement noted that the concerns related to yttrium, scandium, neodymium, and indium.
