China pushes for greater cooperation with BRICS partners

Beijing (ANTARA) - China is prepared to cooperate with all BRICS partners to ensure that greater BRICS cooperation continues to advance and develop further, said Mao Ning, spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, on Friday (11/9).

Mao made the statement during a routine press conference when asked about China’s expectations for the 18th BRICS Summit.

BRICS serves as the most important platform for solidarity and cooperation among the world’s emerging markets and developing nations today, Mao said.

Since its inception, BRICS nations have upheld the spirit of openness, inclusivity, and mutually beneficial cooperation, remaining committed to maintaining multilateralism, upholding equality and justice, and pursuing shared development. They have become a leading force for the Global South, both in name and in reality, she added.

China attaches great importance to and actively participates in BRICS cooperation, Mao said.

President Xi Jinping will attend the summit and deliver an important speech, engaging in profound exchanges with other national leaders regarding key issues, including the current international situation, the development of BRICS mechanisms, and the deepening of practical cooperation. He will also propose important Chinese initiatives and suggestions to determine the direction for larger and higher-quality BRICS cooperation development, she said.

“China is willing to work with all BRICS partners to help greater BRICS cooperation develop stably and further, and to contribute to BRICS in order to build a community with a shared future for mankind,” Mao stated.
