China provides meteorological support for rescue efforts in Nepal

Beijing (ANTARA) - Chinese meteorological authorities have provided weather monitoring services, weather forecasts, early warnings, and impact analyses for Nepal since the occurrence of massive landslides at the Gyirong-Rasuwa border crossing between China and Nepal, an official revealed on Wednesday (2/9).

Wang Yawei, spokesperson for the China Meteorological Administration, stated during a press conference that the agency immediately conducted weather consultations via video conference with Nepal’s meteorological agency shortly after the disaster occurred, and is actively providing meteorological support for rescue and relief operations in Nepal.

The meteorological agency will also strive to ensure comprehensive meteorological services and strengthen international cooperation with Nepal to provide support for emergency response and disaster mitigation in the country, Wang added.
