China proposes six priority sectors for cooperation with Indonesia
It included everything from industrial downstreaming to the digital economy and artificial intelligence (AI).
In a special written interview with ANTARA, he said that infrastructure development is the first sector that needs to be strengthened.
According to him, Indonesia’s efforts to build national connectivity can be supported by China’s technological and supply chain capabilities.
“Both sides can continue to advance high-quality, sustainable, and community-oriented cooperation projects that give tangible benefits,” he said.
The second sector is supply chain and industrial integration. Wang believes that Indonesia’s mineral resource downstreaming agenda can be combined with China’s manufacturing capabilities to increase the added value of commodities.
He specifically mentioned opportunities for increased collaboration in the electric vehicle, battery materials, steel processing, electronics, and information technology sectors.
The third is sustainable green development. In this sector, the countries are considered capable of expanding cooperation in the development of solar photovoltaic and wind power plants, energy storage systems, carbon emission reduction technologies, as well as green financing.
Furthermore, he said, the fourth priority sector is the digital economy and AI.
With its experience in digital technology and AI development initiatives, including the establishment of the World AI Cooperation Organization (WAICO), China has expressed its readiness to support these sectors in Indonesia.
“Both sides can enhance international cooperation on AI, enabling it to empower energy development and insert new momentum into modernization in both countries,” he said.
Maritime cooperation is the fifth. Wang assesses that Indonesia’s Global Maritime Axis concept aligns with China’s efforts to build maritime power.
The sixth focus is rural rejuvenation and agricultural modernization to improve people’s quality of life and accelerate poverty alleviation in rural areas.
He believes that strengthening cooperation in the six sectors can help both countries implement their respective national development visions, namely Golden Indonesia Vision 2045 and China’s Second Centenary Goals 2049.
“China and Indonesia are so capable of aligning their respective modernization processes to achieve mutual success and realize common development,” he said.
