China opens new office in Medan

MEDAN, North Sumatra: Chinese Ambassador to Indonesia Chen Shi
Qiu has inaugurated a representative office in the North Sumatra
capital of Medan.

The establishment of the office is aimed at expanding
bilateral cooperation between Indonesia and China in the
northern parts of the province and improving their mutual
understanding.

The inauguration ceremony, held on Saturday at the Polonia
Hotel in Medan, was attended by Minister of Manpower Jacob Nuwa
Wea, North Sumatra Governor T. Rizal Nurdin and other local
officials.

During the event, Chen also installed board members of the
Indonesian-Chinese Friendship Association (PPIC). --JP
