China launches new campaign to boost NEV consumption in rural areas
Beijing (ANTARA) - China has launched a new campaign to promote the sales of new energy vehicles (NEVs) in rural areas by improving vehicle trade-in services and strengthening support for NEV usage in the countryside. The campaign will select NEV models that suit the needs of rural consumers, have good reputations, and are known for their reliable quality, according to the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, which is organising the campaign together with four other government departments. As part of the campaign, dedicated trade-in service sections will be set up to provide integrated services, such as inspection, valuation, and recycling of used vehicles. The campaign will also select county-level regions with relatively low NEV penetration rates but significant market potential to hold offline promotional activities. Various experience-based consumption scenarios, including vehicle exhibitions and test drives, will be offered to attract consumers from nearby cities and villages to visit sales outlets. NEV sales outlets, after-sales maintenance and repair service providers, charging and battery-swapping service companies, as well as insurance and credit service providers, will be encouraged to participate in the campaign to further improve the supporting environment and services for NEV usage in rural areas.
