Kunming (ANTARA) - The China-Laos Railway recorded 390,000 passenger trips during the Labour Day holiday, which ran from 1 to 5 May, according to the latest data from China Railway Kunming Group Co., Ltd. The railway operator released data for that major holiday period on Wednesday (6/5), which recorded more than five thousand cross-border passenger trips. Of that number, the majority consisted of short-distance tourism trips and journeys to visit relatives. Railway and customs operators continue to enhance cross-border travel services, including by deploying staff to assist with entry list completion processes and efforts to expand and optimise waiting areas at the borders of the two countries, in order to ensure the smoothness and comfort of passengers. The China-Laos Railway connects Kunming, the capital of Yunnan’s Province in southwest China, with Vientiane, the capital of Laos, and passes through many famous tourist attractions such as Xishuangbanna in Yunnan and Luang Prabang in Laos, thus nicknamed the “golden tourism route.”
