Jakarta (ANTARA) - Chinese Ambassador to Indonesia Wang Lutong has invited Indonesian micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) to seize business opportunities in China’s 1.4 billion-strong consumer market.

“We support Indonesian MSMEs in expanding into the international market. This will not only enhance their development capacity and competitiveness, but also enrich product diversity in both regional and global markets,” Wang told ANTARA in a recent written interview.

He emphasized that MSMEs are key drivers of national economic development, playing a vital role in job creation, improving living standards, and boosting economic activity.

Meanwhile, Chinese consumers are increasingly seeking diverse, high-quality products. The market has long recognized Indonesia for its premium agricultural and marine commodities, handicrafts, and environmentally friendly products.

The ambassador said this growing demand presents significant opportunities for Indonesian businesses.

He also highlighted a rising trend of Indonesian entrepreneurs exploring opportunities in China.

To support this, China is encouraging Indonesian MSMEs to participate in various trade initiatives, including the “Export to China” and “Invest in China” campaigns, as well as major trade expos hosted across the country.

“Through their participation, Indonesian businesses will be able to develop high-quality products with distinctive characteristics tailored to the Chinese market,” Wang said.

He also expressed optimism that cooperation between Indonesian and Chinese MSMEs would strengthen following the integration of the cross-border QR code payment systems between the two nations.

He noted that interoperability between Indonesia’s QRIS network and China’s QR payment platforms will reduce cross-border transaction costs, improve capital efficiency, and create a safer, more streamlined payment ecosystem.

“This will facilitate seamless payments between the two countries, generate new momentum for MSME development and bilateral economic cooperation, as well as stimulate consumption,” Wang remarked.
