China has formulated nearly 200 key standards for the AI sector

China has formulated nearly 200 key standards for artificial intelligence (AI) to steer the sector towards healthy and orderly development, according to Vice Minister of Industry and Information Technology Xin Guobin.

Speaking at a press conference on Wednesday (26/8), Xin stated that AI is now largely integrated across the entire industrial chain in China, encompassing research and development, design, production, manufacturing, quality inspection, and operations and maintenance.

“A number of cities are being coordinated to carry out ethical reviews and AI service practices,” Xin said at the press conference organised by the State Council Information Office of China.

Liu Yulin, Director of the Information and Communication Development Department at China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, said at the press conference that during the 15th Five-Year Plan period (2026-2030), efforts to advance core 6G technologies will be accelerated.

“6G technology trials and standards development will continue to be carried out to promote the maturation of the 6G industry and the development of its ecosystem, in preparation for the commercial launch of 6G,” Liu said.
