China Furious, Threatens Tougher Retaliation Against America
China is furious after the United States imposed sanctions on several technology giants from the Bamboo Curtain country. The Xi Jinping administration has made it clear it will not stand idly by and is preparing tougher retaliation against the US if the superpower continues to act unfairly towards Chinese companies.
“We will certainly retaliate firmly and forcefully,” the Commerce Ministry said in a statement quoted by Reuters on Monday (15/6/2026).
Beijing urged the Donald Trump administration to stop its erroneous practices. The US was asked to return to the right path to build a strategic and stable relationship between the two countries.
“China is extremely dissatisfied and firmly opposes this,” the ministry said.
The US has just added a number of major Chinese companies deemed to be helping advance the country’s military and industry. These companies include e-commerce platform Alibaba, internet search provider Baidu, and car manufacturers BYD and NIO. Also named are the world’s largest solar panel manufacturers, Trina Solar and JA Solar Technology.
Under applicable law, the Department of Defense is prohibited from entering into direct contracts with blacklisted companies. This includes only being able to purchase products or services on a limited basis through third parties starting next year.
This new list replaces a policy issued in early 2025. The US also released it a month after the two leaders, Donald Trump and Xi Jinping, maintained a trade war ceasefire.
According to the ministry, the Pentagon’s move ignores the consensus reached during the meeting between Trump and Jinping.
