China-Europe Railway Express freight traffic rises 25 per cent in early 2026
Beijing — The China-Europe Railway Express handled 3,501 freight journeys in the first two months of this year, transporting 352,000 TEU (twenty-foot equivalent unit) of goods, each representing a 32 per cent and 25 per cent increase year-on-year respectively.
This data was released on Thursday (12 March) by China State Railway Group Co., Ltd.
Since the beginning of 2026, railway authorities have strengthened coordination and operational services for the China-Europe freight train route, optimising scheduling to better align with market demand, the company stated.
Working closely with customs authorities, they have also optimised the digital port system and continue to improve the efficiency of customs procedures at railway ports.
Looking ahead, the company said it will accelerate the development of a high-efficiency transportation system, safety management framework, diversified corridor networks, and innovation-driven development mechanisms for the China-Europe Railway Express.
Efforts to enhance the quality and operational efficiency of the railway service will continue, with the aim of providing safe, high-quality, and efficient international logistics services to both domestic and international clients, the company said.
