The ninth China-Eurasia Expo, which closed in Urumqi, capital of northwest China’s Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, on Monday, set a new record in terms of scale, according to the organisers on Tuesday. More than 3,100 domestic and foreign institutions and enterprises participated in the event held from 25 to 29 June, marking the highest number in the expo’s history. A total of 49 countries, regions, and international organisations attended the expo, with 27 of them setting up national pavilions. Over 2,000 overseas exhibitors and buyers were present for business negotiations, while the number of domestic professional buyers reached 23,700. ‘The continuous improvement in international coverage, the quality of market players, and the efficiency of matching supply and demand, as well as the active participation and enthusiastic negotiations of the attendees, are the most direct recognition of the promising prospects for Eurasia cooperation,’ said Xu Yeping, deputy director of the Xinjiang international expo affairs bureau. The five-day expo recorded 329,300 visits, including nearly 10,000 visits from overseas personnel, according to official data. Li Hongqi, deputy head of the regional commerce department, noted that more than 80 economic and trade activities were held during the expo, ranging from high-level dialogues to country-specific sessions and industry matchmaking events, with new cross-border trade models continuously demonstrating their benefits.
