China Establishes Elderly Care Robot Training Centre in Qingdao
Qingdao (ANTARA) - The Qingdao Elderly Care Robot Training Centre was established in February to teach machines the skills needed to care for elderly residents. Human trainers at the facility guide various robots through repetitive tasks, such as grasping objects, maintaining balance, and turning switches, while mastering fine motor skills that are often taken for granted by humans. The centre has become a hub for technological ambition, with 45 companies, including Haier, Hisense, and Agibot, deploying 210 of their products for modular training in 10 categories, such as medication delivery, emotional companionship, and dementia intervention. The facility creates what officials describe as a closed loop, where robots are trained and tested, data is shared, standards are verified, and products are subsequently launched to the market.
