China defense minister in S'pore

SINGAPORE (AP): Chinese Defense Minister Gen. Chi Haotian met
on Thursday with his Singapore counterpart, Tony Tan, Singapore's
Defense Ministry said in a statement.

Chi, who is in Singapore on a four-day official visit, was to
meet with Singapore Prime Minister Goh Chok Tong and Senior
Minister Lee Kuan Yew on Friday.

Also Friday, Chi is expected to deliver a lecture at the
Institute of Defense and Strategic Studies on strategic
challenges in the Asia-Pacific region.
