China Criticises US Export Control Bill
Istanbul (ANTARA) - China has reminded the United States regarding a draft bill on export controls, which was recently discussed by the US House of Representatives, to implement stricter export controls on advanced chip production equipment.
As reported by Xinhua News Agency on Saturday, a spokesperson for China’s Ministry of Commerce stated that the bill, if officially enacted, would seriously damage the international economic and trade order.
Furthermore, the US export control bill would significantly disrupt the stability of the global semiconductor industry and supply chains. Previously, the spokesperson had opposed the excessive expansion of the national security concept and the abuse of export controls.
The US House of Representatives’ Foreign Affairs Committee, in early April, had approved the Multilateral Alignment on Technology Controls for Hardware Act, known as the MATCH Act, and several export control bills.
Meanwhile, US President Donald Trump is scheduled to meet with Chinese President Xi Jinping in May. Initially, the Trump-Xi meeting was scheduled for late March but was postponed due to the Iran war.
The US and China, as the two countries with the world’s largest economies, continue to have disputes on various issues, including trade and Taiwan.
