China Confident Indonesia Will Protect Chinese Company Investments
China’s Foreign Ministry has expressed confidence that Indonesia is a country committed to protecting Chinese investments. Furthermore, Indonesia is also regarded as a friend and important partner.
Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Lin Jian also believes that Indonesia’s recent remarks about investors ‘exploiting’ the country’s natural resources were not directed at China. “We understand that the recently reported remarks stating that a number of foreign investors have exploited or plundered Indonesia’s natural resources were not aimed at China. On various occasions, the Indonesian side has expressed its readiness to deepen industrial and supply chain cooperation with China, and welcomes Chinese companies to invest in the country,” said Lin, quoted from the Chinese Foreign Ministry’s official Instagram account @mfa_china, Wednesday (29 July).
He also explained that, as Indonesia is an important partner, both investment and trade cooperation have proven benefits. “China and Indonesia are friends and important partners. Our trade and investment cooperation has delivered excellent results and brought benefits to both sides over many years,” he said.
In addition, Lin also expressed confidence that the future of Indonesia-China economic relations will remain conducive. “We see a promising future for the economic and trade relations between the two countries, and remain confident that Indonesia offers a conducive environment for Chinese businesses,” said Lin.
