China condemns Ukraine attack on Luhansk student dormitory
UN, New York — China expressed deep concern and condemned the deadly Ukrainian attack on a student dormitory in the Lugansk People’s Republic (LPR), said Fu Cong, China’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, on Friday (22 May). “China notes reports of a drone strike on a school in Starobelsk and expresses deep concern about the loss of life, particularly among students as a result of the attack,” Fu said at an emergency meeting of the UN Security Council on the Ukrainian strike. “China condemns any attack that targets innocent civilians,” he added. Earlier on the same day, Russia’s Ambassador to the UN, Vassily Nebenzia, said more than 40 people were injured and at least six killed after Ukraine attacked an academic building and dormitory in Starobelsk (Starobilsk).
