China Commissions Three High-Performance Carbon Fibre Production Lines

China National Building Material Group Co., Ltd. (CNBM) commenced operations of three world-class high-performance carbon fibre production lines on Sunday, strengthening the supply of high-end carbon fibre products in China. The production lines, located at the Lianyungang base of CNBM’s subsidiary Zhongfu Shenying Carbon Fiber Co., Ltd. in eastern China’s Jiangsu Province, cover three main carbon fibre categories: general-purpose carbon fibre, high-strength carbon fibre, and high-modulus carbon fibre. Carbon fibre, known for its light weight, high strength, and corrosion resistance, is widely used in various fields such as new energy, aerospace, deep-sea, deep-Earth, and deep-space applications, sports equipment, and 3C electronic devices. The new production lines, independently developed by Zhongfu Shenying, consist of a 5,000-tonne large-tow carbon fibre line, a 1,000-tonne SYT70 T1100 high-strength carbon fibre line, and a 600-tonne high-modulus carbon fibre line. CNBM Chairman Zhou Yuxian stated that the launch aims to address structural issues such as insufficient supply of high-end carbon fibre products and an incomplete product spectrum, whilst enabling full coverage across all categories from general-purpose to high-strength and high-modulus products. Zhou added that the new production lines will also help overcome common challenges in the engineering and mass production of high-end materials and will significantly improve the security and resilience of China’s key strategic material supplies.
