China Commissions Three High-Performance Carbon Fibre Production Lines

Beijing (ANTARA) - China National Building Material Group Co., Ltd. (CNBM) began operating three world-class high-performance carbon fibre production lines on Sunday, strengthening the supply of high-end carbon fibre products in China.

The production lines, located at the Lianyungang base of CNBM subsidiary Zhongfu Shenying Carbon Fiber Co., Ltd. in Jiangsu Province, eastern China, cover three main categories of carbon fibre: multipurpose carbon fibre, high-strength carbon fibre, and high-modulus carbon fibre.

Carbon fibre, known for its lightweight, high strength, and corrosion resistance, is widely used in various fields, such as new energy, aerospace, deep-sea, deep-Earth, and deep-space applications, as well as sports equipment and 3C electronic devices.

The new production lines, developed independently by Zhongfu Shenying, consist of a large-tow carbon fibre line with a capacity of 5,000 tonnes, a high-strength SYT70 T1100 type carbon fibre line with a capacity of 1,000 tonnes, and a high-modulus carbon fibre line with a capacity of 600 tonnes.

CNBM Chairman Zhou Yuxian stated that the launch aims to address structural issues, such as the insufficient supply of high-end carbon fibre products and an incomplete product spectrum, while enabling full coverage across all categories, ranging from multipurpose to high-strength and high-modulus products.

These new production lines will also help overcome various common challenges in the engineering and mass production of high-end materials, and will significantly enhance the security and resilience of China’s key strategic material supply, said Zhou.
