China approves 6GHz spectrum trials to accelerate 6G development

Beijing (ANTARA) - China is advancing in next-generation telecommunications by approving trials in the 6GHz band for 6G technology development, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology stated on Friday. The approval, granted to the IMT-2030 (6G) Promotion Group, permits 6G technology trials in selected areas. This step aims to advance research, testing, and technical validation based on major scenarios and performance indicators set by the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) for 6G. The spectrum allocation is expected to accelerate China’s efforts in research and development, standardisation, and industrialisation of 6G, while promoting high-quality development of the country’s 6G sector, the ministry said.
