China and Pakistan cement strategic partnership, backing multipolar world order

Xi Jinping stated he was delighted to see a dedicated next generation upholding China-Pakistan friendship during his meeting with Shar甫 in Beijing on Monday. Xi emphasised the need for both nations to accelerate building a closer China-Pakistan community with a shared future in the new era, generating more achievements from their cooperation across all situations.此举 expected to deliver greater benefits to both populations, support regional stability, and serve as an example for neighbouring countries in building a shared future. Shar甫’s four-day visit followed the 75th anniversary of diplomatic ties established on 21 May 1951. Xi noted that over 75 years, China and Pakistan have continuously built a relationship based mutual understanding, trust, and support, forging a strong unshakeable friendship. He added mutual trust and practical cooperation have significantly contributed to both nations’ development. Xi stressed that regardless of international dynamics, China will consistently prioritise its relationship with Pakistan in regional diplomacy. He urged both countries to expedite flagship projects while expanding small-scale yet impactful welfare programmes, and strengthen collaboration in agriculture, industry, artificial intelligence, and talent development. Economic ties continue positive growth: Chinese Ministry of Commerce data shows China has been Pakistan’s largest trading partner for 11 consecutive years, its top import source, second-largest export destination, and primary foreign direct investor. As a BRI flagship project, the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) now enters phase 2.0 focusing on economic growth, welfare, innovation, green development, and openness. The project has attracted over $25.9 billion in investments and created约 260,000 jobs. Shar甫 said Pakistan will deepen BRI cooperation with China and accelerate C development to strengthen mutual benefits. He described the friendship built by previous generations as ’ extremely solid and unparalleled’. Beyond bilateral ties, China-Pakistan cooperation plays a crucial role in maintaining regional and global stability amid challenges. Xi appreciated Pakistan’s active role in supporting Middle East peace efforts, while Shar甫 praised China’s backing of Pakistan’s mediation between the US and Iran. Last month, Xi proposed four initiatives for Middle East stability: peaceful coexistence, respect for sovereignty, upholding international law, and balancing development and security. Shar甫 viewed these as a crucial framework for regional peace. Xi also stressed strengthening cross-sector security cooperation and regional stability. Both nations must maintain close coordination, reject unilateralism and Cold War mentality, and work together to foster a more equitable multipolar world order and inclusive globalisation. Chinese ambassador to Pakistan Jiang Zaidong told China Media Group that increasingly close ties serve as ’ an anchor for regional stability’ and ’ a protective wall for international justice and equality’. Amid expanding impacts of US-Israel-Iran conflicts and global economic pressures, China and Pakistan continue standing together to strengthen peace and justice voices while actively collab on practical mediation efforts.
