Foreign ministers of China and Indonesia met on Tuesday and agreed to intensify high-level exchanges, strengthen multilateral cooperation, and further develop bilateral relations. During the meeting held on the sidelines of the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) session on upholding the purposes and principles of the UN Charter and strengthening the international system centred on the UN, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi stated that as representatives of emerging economies and major developing nations, China and Indonesia have both the responsibility and need to enhance cooperation, jointly uphold the authority and status of the UN, inject stability into a world rife with change and turmoil, and contribute more significantly to addressing global challenges. In pursuit of building a community with a shared future, China is ready to work with Indonesia to intensify high-level exchanges, strengthen joint planning for cooperation, deepen multilateral coordination, and promote further development of bilateral relations, he added. Indonesian Foreign Minister Sugiono said Indonesia highly values its relationship with China and is prepared to strengthen exchanges at all levels, deepen pragmatic cooperation across various sectors, and jointly implement agreed consensus on maritime development. Indonesia will provide a conducive business environment for Chinese companies, collaborate to enhance cooperation in various sectors including energy and mineral resources, continue to elevate the comprehensive strategic partnership between the two nations, and promote peace, stability, and inclusive development in the region, he stated. Both sides also exchanged views on international and regional issues, including the situation in the Middle East.
