Beijing (ANTARA) – China and the European Union have agreed to maintain stability in their bilateral trade and economic relations and make them more balanced, while scheduling a follow-up meeting of their trade and investment consultation mechanism for March 2027, according to a joint statement released on Friday (9 October).

The statement, issued by China’s Ministry of Commerce, said Chinese Commerce Minister Wang Wentao and European Commissioner for Trade and Economic Security Maroš Šefčovič held the second meeting under the China-EU trade and investment consultation mechanism in Beijing from Thursday (8 October) to Friday (9 October).

The two sides held pragmatic and productive discussions and agreed on a number of outcomes, the statement said.

As major trading partners, China and the EU reaffirmed their commitment to properly address their differences within the framework of World Trade Organisation (WTO) rules.

They also pledged to maintain stability in bilateral economic and trade relations and make them more balanced, according to the statement.

The two sides also agreed to hold the third meeting under the consultation mechanism in March 2027 and maintain close communication in the meantime, including through a ministerial-level video conference in January 2027.
