Chilly in Mina Tents, Blora Hajj Pilgrims Choose to Sleep Outside

Ngasini, a Hajj pilgrim from Blora, Indonesia, chose to stay outside his tent due to the cold during the overnight stay (mabit) in Mina. Ngasini stated he could not tolerate the air conditioning (AC) inside the tent, finding the outdoor air more comfortable. The incident was revealed when Deputy Minister of Hajj and Umrah Dahnil Anzar Simanjuntak inspected pilgrims at the Mina tents. During his visit, he found Ngasini sleeping outside the tent. Dahnil explained his visit was prompted by reports of broken AC units causing many pilgrims to overheat. ‘Now it’s too cold. That’s why he went outside,’ Dahnil said on his Instagram on Thursday (28 May). Ngasini even brought his mattress outside. Dahnil jokingly said he feared others might think Ngasini didn’t get a mattress inside the tent. ‘Let’s adjust the AC for our pilgrims,’ he added. The 1447 Hijriah Hajj pilgrimage has entered its final phase. The peak of Hajj, known as Armuzna—a shorthand for Arafah, Muzdalifah, and Mina—is the central stage of the pilgrimage rituals. On 9 Zulhijjah, pilgrims will perform wukuf (standing in prayer) from noon until sunset at Arafah Plain. They will then proceed to Muzdalifah for overnight stay (mabit) and collect pebbles for the stoning ritual. Afterwards, they move to Mina for the stoning ceremony. Meanwhile, the Indonesian Ministry of Hajj and Umrah confirmed all movements of Indonesian Hajj pilgrims during the Armuzna phase proceeded smoothly. Ministry spokesperson Maria Assegaff stated all Indonesian pilgrims had successfully been transported from Arafah to Muzdalifah. They then arrived in Mina to continue the rituals of overnight stay and stoning. ‘Alhamdulillah, the entire movement of pilgrims from Arafah to Muzdalifah and then to Mina proceeded as per operational plans. The last movement from Arafah to Muzdalifah occurred at 02:40 Saudi time, with the movement from Muzdalifah to Mina completed by 07:00 and Muzdalifah declared clear,’ Maria said in a written statement on Wednesday (27 May).
