Chilli to Shallot Prices Fall, Here's the Full List

The trend in national strategic food prices entering early July 2026 shows a weakening in the majority of commodities. The sharpest decline occurred in red bird’s eye chillies, which plummeted nearly 8 percent, followed by shallots and a number of other horticultural commodities. Meanwhile, price increases only occurred in a few commodities such as garlic, beef, and several types of rice. Based on data from the Bank Indonesia Strategic Food Price Information Centre (PIHPS) on Saturday, 4 July 2026 at 08.40 WIB, the price of red bird’s eye chillies was recorded down 7.93 percent or Rp5,350 to Rp62,100 per kilogram (kg). This decline was the largest compared to other strategic food commodities. In the chilli group, the weakening trend occurred evenly. The price of large red chillies fell 5.52 percent or around Rp2,950 to Rp50,500 per kg, curly red chillies fell 4.14 percent or around Rp2,200 to Rp50,900 per kg, while green bird’s eye chillies weakened 3.96 percent or around Rp2,050 to Rp49,750 per kg. The price of medium-sized shallots also experienced a considerable correction, down 6 percent or Rp3,050 to Rp47,800 per kg. In contrast, medium-sized garlic was one of the commodities that experienced an increase, namely 0.92 percent or Rp400, bringing its price to Rp44,100 per kg. In the rice group, price movements tended to be stable with slight increases in several categories. Lower quality rice I rose 0.34 percent or Rp50 to Rp14,700 per kg, medium quality rice II rose 0.31 percent or Rp50 to Rp16,150 per kg, and super quality rice I increased 0.28 percent or Rp50 to Rp17,650 per kg. Meanwhile, the price of lower quality rice II fell slightly by 0.34 percent or Rp50 to Rp14,500 per kg. The price of medium quality rice I remained unchanged at Rp16,350 per kg, while super quality rice II also remained unchanged at Rp17,100 per kg. For animal protein commodities, the price of fresh broiler chicken meat fell 1.21 percent or Rp450 to Rp36,600 per kg, while fresh chicken eggs weakened 1.35 percent or Rp400 to Rp29,250 per kg. In contrast to chicken meat, the price of beef actually increased. Grade 1 beef rose 0.17 percent or Rp250 to Rp150,250 per kg, while grade 2 beef increased 0.32 percent or Rp450 to Rp141,500 per kg.
