Chile, RI sign agreement

JAKARTA (JP): Indonesia and Chile signed a memorandum of understanding yesterday to enhance cooperation in the telecommunications field.

The accord was signed here by the Indonesian foreign ministry's director general for foreign economic relations, Soemadi Brotodiningrat, and Chile's ambassador to Jakarta, Fernando Cousino.

The agreement is aimed at setting technical standards for communications equipment, systems and services in the two countries.

A joint commission comprised of senior officials will be established in the near future to oversee the implementation of the agreement.(mds)
