Children's Nutritional Needs a Priority for Human Capital Development
The South Tangerang City Government is making the fulfilment of children’s nutritional needs a primary focus in its efforts to enhance the quality of human resources. Mayor Benyamin Davnie has expressed full support for the implementation of the Free Nutritious Meal Programme as a long-term investment to create a healthy, intelligent, and competitive generation.
The quality of human resources is determined not only by access to good education but also by the fulfilment of children’s nutritional needs from early childhood through school age. Through the Free Nutritious Meal Programme, the government seeks to ensure that students receive sufficient nutritional intake to support their learning process and growth.
“Children’s nutritional needs are a priority for human capital development. Healthy children will be more ready to learn, more productive, and have greater opportunities to develop into a superior generation in the future,” Benyamin stated on Tuesday (9/6/2026).
He said that the South Tangerang City Government continues to support the Free Nutritious Meal Programme through coordination with the central government, the National Nutrition Agency, schools, and various related parties so that the programme runs optimally and is well-targeted. According to him, the programme not only provides short-term benefits in the form of fulfilling students’ food and nutritional needs but also serves as a long-term investment in improving the quality of the nation’s next generation.
“This programme is not merely about providing food to school children. What is more important is ensuring they receive good nutritional intake to support their health, learning concentration, and physical and mental development,” he said. The South Tangerang City Government is also continuously monitoring the programme’s implementation, including the quality of the food served, distribution to students, and food safety aspects. These steps are taken so that the programme’s benefits can truly be felt by the students.
Benyamin explained that the success of regional development cannot be separated from the quality of its human resources. Therefore, investment in the health and education sectors must be carried out sustainably, including through strengthening nutrition fulfilment programmes for children. “When children receive good nutrition, they can learn more optimally. Ultimately, this will contribute to improving the quality of human resources and the region’s competitiveness in the future,” he explained.
He also appreciated the support of all parties involved in implementing the Free Nutritious Meal Programme, from the central government, programme organisers, and teaching staff, to parents. According to Benyamin, collaboration is the key to the programme’s success because efforts to improve children’s nutritional quality require the continuous involvement of many parties.
“Human capital development is a shared responsibility. Through the Free Nutritious Meal Programme, we want to ensure that children in South Tangerang City have equal opportunities to grow up healthy, learn well, and achieve a brighter future,” he stated. The South Tangerang City Government is committed to continuing to support various programmes oriented towards improving the quality of life of the community, particularly in the health and education sectors. It is hoped that through the Free Nutritious Meal Programme, more students will benefit, so that the goal of creating a superior generation towards a Golden Indonesia can be realised.
