Children to sing at Hilton
JAKARTA (JP): The Indonesian Children's Choir (PSAI) will perform at the Hilton Executive Club at 7 p.m. on Nov. 23.
The event, called Anak Indonesia Bernyanyi (Indonesian Children Sing), will feature 40 children aged between five and 15 years who were selected to represent Indonesia at the International Children Choir Competition in Tokyo and The 7th Japan International Musicale in Oakland, California. Both events are in June.
"Most of the members of the choir are from East Nusa Tenggara," the chairperson of the organizing committee, Joan Henuhilli, said yesterday.
The Indonesian choir will be the only Asian choir among the 14 participating countries, she said.
"The concert is to raise funds to send the children to the competitions. Those interested in sponsoring the project (sending the choir to Japan and the U.S.) can dial 3910221 or 3149467," Joan said.
PSAI was founded in 1992 and is now led by Aido Swenson Simandjuntak, a graduate of the Westminster Choir College, Princeton and the Mozarteum Salzburg, Austria. (sur)
