Children involved in theft ring

SAMPIT, West Kalimantan: The Kotawaringin Timur police have
arrested a group of motorcycle thieves which included two
children.

The police detective chief Adj. Comr. Deny Y. Putro said here
Tuesday that the group, led by Alianus, 27, were arrested in
separate locales recently. From them the police seized three
motorcycles as evidence.

Alianus was assisted by M. Budiansyah, 13, and Heru, 12,
during his operation, which included the theft of two motorcycles
in October and another one earlier this month. The group sold the
motorcycles far below market price at Rp 500,000 each to
Sahminim, who has also been arrested for his role.

Dedy said the gang of robbers operated mostly near mosques.

The group was busted after police nabbed Heru at his home on
Monday. The suspect then led the police to the rest of the group
members.

Dedy said the police would develop their investigation into
the case, which they believe to have a link to the earlier theft
of six motorcycles during the Muslim fasting month of Ramadhan,
which will end on Dec. 6. -- Antara
