Child Found Dead in Bogor, Suspected Dog Attack Under Police Investigation

A video circulating on social media shows the discovery of the body of a nine-year-old boy in Jasinga, Bogor, West Java. The victim is alleged to have died following an attack by a wild boar hunting dog.

The discovery was confirmed by the Chief of Jasinga Sector Police, Iptu Agus Hidayat. The victim, identified by the initials MAS, was reportedly fishing when the incident occurred.

“It is true, a body was found. The discovery location is Sipak Village, Jasinga. The victim is 9 years old, according to information from the family. The victim’s name is MAS,” said Iptu Agus when confirmed by reporters on Sunday (7/6/2026).

“Initial information from residents suggests the victim was fishing and was bitten by a dog (a wild boar hunting dog). This is only preliminary information and is still suspected. After officers checked the location, it was confirmed that the body of a small child was indeed present,” he added.

In the viral video footage, residents can be seen inspecting the boy’s body. The victim was found lying face down on the grass. Other footage shows police and military personnel evacuating the victim using a patrol vehicle.

Agus stated that the body was discovered by local residents passing by the area at approximately 11:30 AM. Upon discovery, the victim was lying on the grass with a head injury.

“The body was found by local residents at 11:30 AM today. As mentioned, it is suspected the death was caused by a dog bite, based on community reports; we will seek certainty following our search and witness examinations,” Agus said.

“There was an injury to the head. The wound appeared irregular. It was not caused by a sharp weapon. When we arrived at the scene, the dog was not found,” he continued.

Agus noted that the police are currently conducting further investigations into the discovery of the boy’s body. Based on preliminary information, the victim was bitten by a wild boar hunting dog while fishing in the area.

“I have coordinated with the Head of the PPA/PPO (Protection and Women’s Empowerment Unit) and the Head of Criminal Investigation. I have also reported this incident to the District Police Chief. Currently, we are in the stage of examining witnesses as part of the investigation,” he concluded.
