Child dies in bike accident

TANGERANG: A family riding on a bicycle was hit by a box truck
on Jl. Daya Pintu Sepuluh in the Pasar Baru subdistrict of
Tangerang on Thursday morning.

Ratih, six and a half years old, died instantly, while her
father, Tarwan, 30, and mother, Endah, 28, were rushed to
Tangerang General Hospital with serious injuries.

They had not regained consciousness as of Thursday
afternoon.

Ratih was sitting between her father and her mother on the
bike when the truck hit the bicycle.

The truck driver and his assistant were beaten by angry
residents before they were arrested by police. The vehicle was
damaged by the residents. --JP
