Child Abuse Perpetrator in Tangerang Stored Indecent Photos

A man with the initials M (31) has been arrested for sexually abusing a 10-year-old boy in Solear, Tangerang Regency, Banten. The suspect was found to have stored indecent photos and videos.

Tangerang Police Chief Andi M Indra Waspada said M was caught by the victim’s family and Solear residents after abusing the victim on Friday (28/8/2026). The suspect was then taken to a neighbourhood security post and his mobile phone was examined. Photos of young children and indecent images were found.

“At that time, one of the residents checked the suspect’s phone and found many photos of young children and many indecent photos,” he said.

After being caught by residents, police arrived at the scene to secure the perpetrator. The suspect has been detained and held at Tangerang Police headquarters.

Modus Operandi: Pocket Money

Senior Commander Indra Waspada said the incident occurred on Friday (28/8). At the time, a neighbour of the victim saw the victim with someone he did not recognise.

“Local residents who did not know M became suspicious. This was then reported to the child’s parents and local community officials,” said Indra.

According to Indra, the victim’s parents along with several other people searched for the victim’s whereabouts. They eventually found the victim at one of the mosques.

“The victim then recounted what had happened to him. Meanwhile, suspect M was also apprehended by residents not far from the mosque. Residents then took the suspect to a neighbourhood security post,” he said.

Shortly afterwards, police officers immediately secured suspect M. To investigators, suspect M admitted to committing the criminal act of sexual abuse by touching the victim’s genitals.

“The modus operandi used by the suspect was giving Rp3,000 as pocket money,” said Indra Waspada.
