Cianjur Police in West Java have arrested MD (45), a resident of Pacet District, who is suspected of committing sexual violence against his biological child since September 2023.

The Head of the Women and Children Protection Unit (PPA) of the Cianjur Police Criminal Investigation Unit, Ipda Encep Rosidi, stated in Cianjur on Sunday that the perpetrator was arrested at his home without resistance after the victim reported the incident.

“The perpetrator was arrested at his home without resistance and is currently undergoing interrogation by officers. Previously, the victim reported the incident accompanied by their grandfather, S (66),” said Encep.

He noted that the sexual violence against the victim is suspected to have occurred since September 202 predating the victim’s mother leaving to become a migrant worker abroad. The victim eventually shared the experience with a neighbour after enduring the abuse for approximately one year.

This information was subsequently learned by the victim’s grandfather, who then accompanied his grandchild to report the matter to the Cianjur Police. It was reported that the victim’s mother initially did not believe her child’s confession.

“Due to his actions, the suspect is charged under Article 473, paragraphs (1), (4), and (9) of the Republic of Indonesia Law Number 1 of 2023 regarding the Criminal Code (KUHP), with a maximum prison sentence of 15 years,” he added.

Cianjur Police have urged parents and victims of sexual violence not to hesitate in reporting incidents to law enforcement so that they can be processed according to the law. Encep assured that information regarding the victim’s identity will be kept confidential in accordance with victim protection regulations.
